First, please begin by reading “Mormon Cinema” and “Mormon Film History Outline.” These are available under “Pages.” I’ve included another article for your reference, “What is Mormon Cinema? Defining the Genre,” which is at the following link: https://reserve.lib.byu.edu/docs/18488/. We’re still having some issues with the course reserve links. It should work in Firefox or Safari browsers.

Now, pick your favorite “Mormon” movie and use it to argue for or against the existence of a “Mormon” cinema genre by addressing the questions that we have considered in our reading and viewing assignments for today. Consider the following question: Is there a difference between movies about Mormons and “Mormon” cinema? Don’t just brush this question off. Could one argue that many of the movies I just mentioned in the readings (e.g., “The RM,” “The Best Two Years, etc.”) are about Mormons and their experiences, but not necessarily about deeper issues.
